Sharing Christ's Love With All

Get Involved

Women of the Church

Oak Hill United Methodist Church has two women's groups that are affiliated with United Methodist Women (UMW); CREW (Christ Redeemed Extraordinary Women)meets monthly, usually over an evening meal at a community restaurant, to study, share and encourage each other. The other group of women meets monthly at noon, usually at a monthly Hominy Valley Welcome Table lunch, after preparing desserts for the event.  Fellowship and prayerful support are important aspects of the women’s activities.  They contribute to UMW missions and several community charity organizations, visit shut-ins, and assist with children's activities.  Learning about the needs of women and children locally and globally and lovingly serving them are the foundation of Oak Hill women's activities.  Oak Hill’s United Methodist Women also sponsor fundraising activities, such as Oak Hill’s annual Flea Market, to help meet the financial needs of both local and global women’s and children’s programs.

Men of the Church

Oak Hill’s United Methodist Men (UMM) meet on the 4th Sunday of every month (except in August) over an early morning breakfast prepared by the UMM at Oak Hill. All men are welcome to attend and contribute to this monthly fellowship breakfast. On the fourth Saturday in August, Oak Hill’s UMM hosts a picnic at the church for all members. The UMM have also been involved in sponsoring Scouting activities and other church related activities.

CRUD (Christ Redeemed Unique Dudes)
is another men’s group at Oak Hill United Methodist Church. They too meet monthly, usually on the first Monday evening of the month, at a local establishment in and around the Asheville community, for the purposes of laughter, fun and doing good works. In other words, for the purpose of fellowship.

Family Night Supper

Here at Oak Hill UMC we consider members and visitors to be family. What better way to get together with friends and family than to have a meal.

During school months we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the fellowship hall at 6:00 pm for Family Night Supper. We each bring a dish or two (or more) to share with those able to come. Attendees bring family, friends, neighbors or anyone else interested in fellowship and good food here at Oak Hill.

Children and Youth

There are many children and youth activities created, planned, directed, and coordinated at Oak Hill including special events, Christian study opportunities and classes, and opportunities for missions, both in and outside the local community. Some of these include Oak Hill’s annual Easter egg hunt, Vacation Bible School, the annual summer Reading Challenge, Halloween’s Trunk or Treat, the Fall Festival and Christmas pageant, and mission trips to assist others in need. Additionally, additional special events planned for the children and youth groups at Oak Hill, include bowling, swim parties, trips to outdoor recreational areas throughout Western North Carolina, and amusement parks, to name just a few.

Safe Sanctuary: Oak Hill is a safe sanctuary for children and youth. Volunteers and staff working directly with children and youth are required to have a criminal background check completed on a regular basis.

Choir

Oak Hill's choir is open to all who love to lift their voices in song.  The choir leads the congregation and offers special music during worship services.  Our music is contemporary and traditional, with praise songs, gospel music, spirituals, and solemn hymns.   The choir is an instrument of grace through which God can inspire the lives of the congregation’s members.
